Course Description
This course provides an in-depth understanding of ocular motor skills and their critical role in motor skill development, learning, and behavior. Participants will explore the functions of key eye muscles, the impact of weak ocular motor skills on attention, concentration, and reading, as well as the relationship between poor eye teaming and visual processing challenges. The course also examines how balance and muscle tone influence ocular motor stability, equipping participants with insights to support learners effectively in a holistic manner.
Speaker Biography

Monica Garnett is a qualified Kinderkineticist from the University of the Free State in South Africa. Bachelors done in Human Movement Science & Post- graduated done in Kinderkinetics.

Monica knew from a very young age she wanted to work with children. She started volunteer work at an Orphanage in South Africa from the young age of 16 years.

She realized then the support which was needed in such organizations and furthered her career in child care.

Monica has further trained in binocular vision skills, strabismus and vision related learning difficulties. She worked in an Optometric practice in South Africa for 3 years focusing on training and treatment regimens in Vision Therapy.

Monica received additional training in the United States in 2019 at the NeuroSensory Centre of Eastern Pennsylvania for vision rehabilitation, evaluation and treatment by Dr. Jeffery Becker.

Monica spent 10 years working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where she qualified to practice under the license title of an Occupational therapist.
Monica has through her experience been able to apply a more holistic approach to the therapy process and has applied her knowledge to adapt to the constant changes arising in child development.

Monica is currently on a sabbatical and living back in her home country of South Africa, where she is furthering her studies in Integrative Mental Health Coaching.
